Do you have a vision for your family?

Awhile back I posted an article on Ezine Articles about the problem parents have with a lack of vision. I speak from experience, because when I began parenting I had no idea of the importance of holding a positive vision. Instead I got caught in the moment, and often lived a cycle of frustration; my actions and lack of vision often perpetuated the exact situation I wanted to end.

What are some of the things that you envision for your family? I’d like to see you share some of your top wishes for your family. I’ll share a short-list of what I envision for my family here:

For me those wishes include kids who:
- participate in a wide-variety of activities.
- appreciate the arts both as a spectator and a participant.
- have high social and emotional intelligence.
- are responsible and willingly contribute to their home, school and community.

Some of my goals included kids who skate, hike, and cross-country ski, as well as some of the more common sports such as biking, downhill skiing and swimming. When the kids were little, this goal seemed close to impossible because I found it so much work to get them skating or skiing. Now they are 10 and 12 and they do all of those sports and what’s even better, they like them! I wish I’d had the faith when they were young that we would get there, which would have made it easier to deal with the sheer amount of effort required!

I look forward to hearing about your dreams for your family, and whether they are already achieved or yet-to-be achieved!

Dream on for great parenting!
