Which candy conjures Christmas more than any other?
Candy canes!
But did you know that the stuff most are made of isn’t good for you, your family or the Earth? That’s because conventional candy canes are typically a concoction of refined sugar, corn syrup and artificial colors & flavorings. Not so sweet after all.
But one company does it better: Pure Fun
(And as far as we know, they’re the only ones who do.)
Pure Fun’s candy canes earn our two thumbs up (so, between the two of us that’s really four) – way up – because their candy is:
* USDA Certified organic
* Vegan
* GMO free
* Preservative free
… And uses:
* Organic evaporated cane juice (no refined sugar)
* All natural colors (fruit juice)
* All natural flavor (peppermint)
Best of all? They taste amazing, of course!
… So, use ‘em as edible decor on the tree, sprinkled over mochas and as trees lining your gingerbread house. Give ‘em to carolers, to teachers and to classmates, too. Make peppermint crunch cookies, put a few in stockings and leave one (or two) for Santa. He’ll love you for considering his health and the health of the planet. And goodness knows, both can use some help.
Learn more about the history of Pure Fun, or to find out more about how to celebrate green while having fun, check out the mother and daughter team Lynn and Corey Colwell’s excellent site here . They are a wealth of ideas that we can use throughout the year! After reading this great post, I’m on the search for some better candy canes!
Let me know if you find any organic candy canes, and how else you plan to green up your Christmas this year.
